Summer April to June-

  • Akshaya Tritiya According to the Hindu calendar Akshaya Tritiya is an auspicious day to begin the yatra for all 4 dhams. It typically falls in April or May marking the beginning of the Char Dham Yatra temple season
  • This is a springtime blooming flowers and clear sky, and the weather is pleasant around this time also the lesser rainfall on these days in that region.
  • Those who prefer warmer temperatures can choose this year to make Char Dham tourism to avoid any snow and cold.

Monsoon July to September-

  • The rainfall as June passes and the monsoon coming from southern India reaches the Himalayan, this time heavy rainfall and uneven temperatures are recorded in the Chardham region.
  • Waterfalls as the rainy seasons begin the journey to all of Chardham becomes more scenic. Seasonal waterfalls and lush green mountains make the journey even more beautiful this time of year.
  • The risk of this beauty comes at a cost, sometimes rainy clouds can get trapped in the mountains which causes heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides. Because of this chance of roadblock and travel may happen this time.

Autumn and cold October and November-

  • With the closures at this part of the Yatra, the number of pilgrims started decreasing, and the hard weather came into action.
  • The Badrinath Dham closes on the Vijayadashami which is around September or October and all three Dhams are closed at Diwali.
  • Snow Around this time snowfall started and temperatures went below sub zero so those pilgrims who prefer these conditions can plan their trip in these months, but make sure that your trips end before Diwali.

These are the only months in which you can make a plan and you can opt for any of these months according to your preferences. Now there are some points which you should consider before trips.

Important points for Chardham Yatra tourism-

  • From Akshaya Ttritiya to Diwali it means around May to October, these are the months in which Chardham Yatra tourism takes place and is closed for the rest of the months so you should only plan in these months.
